This page is about valotech.org, the public site you are reading: what reaches us when you visit, what is written to your browser, and where to write to us.
What a visit leaves
Nothing on this page reports your visit to us. One thing may be written to your browser when you arrive — a note that the opening animation has played, so it does not play again while your browser is open; if your system asks for reduced motion the animation never runs and the note is never written. Delivering a page to you necessarily discloses your network address to whoever serves it, which is true of every website; we do not gather those records and we build nothing from them.
What we measure
Nothing, unless you ask for it. Turning Analytics on in the banner loads Google Analytics, which counts visits and tells one from the next. Leave it off, as it is until you answer, and no script here counts, times or attributes a visit. Turning it off again stops the measurement and clears what it stored.
What is stored in your browser
Four things at most, and two more only if you ask for them: the note about the opening animation, the language you chose, the fact that you opened the investor chapters on the home page, and the session that signing in gives you — plus, if you turn Analytics on, the two cookies Google Analytics writes. The first three never leave your browser and identify nobody. The session is a cookie, and being sent back is what a cookie is for: it travels with every request you make while signed in, because that is how the hall knows which reader is asking. The cookies page lists them all and says when each is set.
If you write to us
Your message and your email address reach our mailbox and stay there while the conversation is still useful. Nothing you send is used for anything but answering you, and writing to us does not put you on a list.
If you have an account in the investor hall
The hall holds more about you, because it has to know who is reading: your name and email address, your sessions, and which documents you have opened. It carries its own notice saying what it holds and what you can ask for, and that notice is the one that applies to you there.
